Vermont Studio
Center (VSC) is an international creative community in Johnson, Vermont
and the largest artists’ and writers’ residency program in the United
States. Each year, VSC provides 600 emerging and mid-career artists
and writers from the U.S. and around the world with the opportunity
to invest themselves fully in their creative work during intensive residencies
in a supportive studio environment. VSC Press creates outstanding prints
that are sold to raise funds for Artist and Writer Residency Fellowships
at the Vermont Studio Center.
Distinguished artists are invited to create series of prints. VSC Press provides the materials, the technical expertise of the Master Printer, and an environment that supports inspiration and artistic freedom. Participating artists contribute their time and talent to create the prints, and donate half of the prints to VSC. VSC Press offers these prints to museums, the VSC community of supporters, and individual collectors. The prints are priced to reflect the creative environment of the Center; artists are seen as equals, and prices are based on the type and size of the print, rather than the market status of a particular artist’s work. Prices range from $300 to $2,200 and are usually one-third to one-half of the work’s actual commercial value. VSC Press prints are included in the following museum collections: Brooklyn Museum of Art in Brooklyn, NY; Davis Museum at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA; Davison Print Collection at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT; Robert Hull Fleming Museum at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT; Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA; Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH; Museum of Art at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT; Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy; Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, NY; and Williams College Museum of Art in Williamstown, MA, among others. |
